Au Pair job description
Hello! My name is Brittany, and I'm posting a job for my mother and grandparents. My elderly grandfather (85) has recently been diagnosed with dementia, and my grandmother (80 this July!) needs some help caring for him. She lives a very active lifestyle (music groups, volunteering at the church, choir, sorority charity events, etc) and needs someone to be with my grandfather while she's out. You would just need to spend time with him, chatting, watching movies, going on walks, possible light lunch preparation, occasional help with housekeeping or errands. If you have a license, it is possible there is a car you could use. The hours would vary as needed so she can run errands and such, but my grandmother is a very organized woman and you would always know your schedule at least a week in advance, with a maximum of 20 hours in a week. The pay will be determined based on your experience, age, and other factors. We expect you to keep your room clean and to clean up after yourself around the house. We offer a room on it's own level with a private bathroom, all meals provided (and let me say, my grandmother can cook! She puts Betty Crocker to shame!). There is also a recreation room on your level with a piano, pool table, and a TV for DVD's and movies. There is a computer in the be welcome to use, as well as a flat screen TV in the living room with cable. We are well connected to the Spokane Transit System with a bus stop five minutes walking distance which can take you anywhere in Spokane. We also have grocery stores, gyms, coffee shops, and many other stores within a 15 minute walk. My mother lives nearby (15 minute drive) with my brother (17), my dog and my sister (14) and you will see a lot of them! During the summer months we also have a lake cabin we spend a lot of time at, with lots of swimming, sunning, boating and hiking, and you will always be welcome to join us there. Please let me know any questions you may have, and I will try to reply quickly!
Thanks! Brittany
Family's Message to Au Pair
Dear future "au pair"
Hi! My name is Brittany, I'm 19, and I'm currently working as an au pair myself in Italy and it has been such a wonderful experience. So here's a little about the job: this is an ELDERLY CARE position, not a child care position! My family lives in the beautiful city of Spokane, WA, USA with true four season weather! It is a wonderful place for winter and summer sports alike, with many places for hiking! It's the second largest city in Washington, with 3 malls and cinemas and many beautiful parks. Although the primary job would be to help care for my grandfather, it would also include helping my mother with housework/light dinner preparation (aka pasta, heating the stove, etc) and (if you'd like) possibly language exchange with my brother who is 17. My family is very fun, very relaxed, and my grandparents are as sweet as can be. This is a great job for someone with a lot of patience and love, who enjoys classical or jazz music, musicals from the 1940's, and hearing lots of stories! We really look to embrace this girl as part of our family! There is more information on the job below!
Thanks!
