Au Pair or Nanny job description

We would like to hire a nanny who wants to be an additional member of the family. Essential qualities include safety consciousness, common sense, integrity, and enthusiasm. We would like somebody who knows how to have fun and be gentle, but who can firmly establish and enforce limits in an empathic way. Cooking and light housework are required, but are not the focus of the job. The children's safety is the number one priority, followed closely by ensuring healthy social and emotional development.

Family's Message to Au Pair or Nanny

Like most households with young children, ours is always bustling with activity. The children are active and healthy children who need support and guidance in their day-to-day activities. We are trying to foster a sense of independence and self-efficacy without allowing them to run wildly without limits! Unfortunately, the nature of our professional careers has made strict routine difficult to establish in our family, but the children nonetheless have a clear sense of what is expected of them. We believe that it is important for all of the caregivers to have a consistent approach to caring for our children, so effective communication is very important skill to possess. As long as they are reasonable and age-appropriate, we are always open to new ideas, so please do not hesitate to share your experiences and novel approaches with us!

We require a knowledge of first aid and CPR for infants and children. We prefer a candidate who is also a strong swimmer. Creative and musical abilities are a definite asset, and enthusiasm for sports and outdoor activities is an absolute must. As the day draws to a close, we need somebody who is calming and able to help the children settle into their bedtime routine. Healthy cooking skills are essential. At a bare minimum, the candidate must be able to follow a simple recipe, but enthusiasm for trying new things is definitely a bonus!
