Au Pair's Message to Families

Dear future host Family ! My name is Magdalena . I am nineteen years old. I live in a suburb of town in a north of Poland called Slupsk. It is very close to Baltic Sea. I live with my parents, my younger brother and our dog in a two-family-house with garden. My mother’s name is Malgorzata and she is 48 years old. She works as a seller of leather, which is using to shoes production and sometimes she also designs shoes for some companies. My father’s name is Marek, he is 56 and he has his own automotive shop and he also works as a seller. My relationship with my parents is really good. My brother’s name is Mikolaj and he is just 3 years younger than me. Couple years ago this age difference seemed to be much bigger than it is. I was taking care of him when parents were out. I was always more mature than Mikolaj so I was responsible for him. I have always enjoyed that, because we have always been good friends. We are very friendly family and our home is full of love.

I am really cheerful and open person. I like to meet new people and I care about contacts witch them. I’m very active. I love cycling, swimming and skiing. There is thing I always dream about- I would like to try surfing. I think it’s really exciting, but I have never tried it. I also like to read and watch good films.

I want to be an au pair because I can deal with kids and I like it a lot. I love to spend time with children. They also very like me. There are always many children around me. A lot of my older friends and my parents’ friends have kids. I always enjoy spending time with them. I have been dreaming about being an au pair for really long time. I realize that childcare is not only pleasure but also a huge responsibility which requires lots of patience, understanding and watchful attention. I’m responsible person and you can be sure that I can handle it.

As it comes to my childcare experience I think I get on very well with those small people. I have experience with children aged from 1 to 15 years old.

I looked after my neighbours’ boys named Adam (4 years old now) and Mikolaj (11 years old now, named like my brother). As their parents couldn’t get time off from work they asked me to organize some interesting activities for kids after my school classes. I made meals for them and played with them. I helped Mikolaj with his homework. I have been always present in Adam’s life. I have spent a lot of time with him since he was born. I played with him, changed his dipers and washed him.

Moreover, I've sometimes helped my friend to take care of her brother Jas since he was almost 2. I often visit my friend. Playing with her brother is always big part of my visits. Also, sometimes I looked after my teacher's kids. My classmates and I have great relationship with our tutor, so she asked us for some help. I did it with real pleasure.

Besides, last year my classmates and I organized Christmas Eve for orphan children to let them feel magic of this special time. We invited them and their sitters to our school and made some dishes. I cared about games for them. We decorated Christmas Tree and color paper ornaments. Singing carols was one of the children's favourite activities. We also prepared some gifts for them. It was really touching amazing time.

This year I graduated High School. I’m planning to take a gap year to get an Au Pair experience. After that I would like to study in Europe. I've chosen United States because I am really interested in your culture. It always fascinated me. I saw United States only in movies or pictures and now I would like to see everything alive. I love your language and I want to learn it perfectly. I even better like American accent than British. It sounds really great for me and I would like to talk fluently. Besides, there are so many nations in USA. I would love to meet new international friends. It is great opportunity to learn something about other cultures. I think time spent in USA will develop my knowledge about the world.

I do believe that my stay with your family will be a good and interesting time. I promise that I’ll never ignore my responsibilities. You can be sure that I will do my best to meet your expectations. I also hope to become your friend and it could be very nice if you could accept me as your family member.
