Au Pair's Message to Families

I am a mature 25 year old, the eldest of four children and have three younger brothers the youngest of these is 10 years younger than myself. I have always been used to having young children around as I came from a big family and have lots of cousins and extended family living near by. I have been babysitting since the age of 13 for family friends and since 16 I have babysat and looked after children from the age of about 9 months and upwards in paid work. For the above reasons I believe myself to have a good grasp of a daily routine for all ages of children. I am also very used to cooking for the house, in fact I love cooking and do so whenever i get the chance. I am also very used to household duties and am very willing to carry them out within reason.

About myself; Officially I am Elizabeth, but I have always been Liz, unless I've been in trouble! I have been described as lively, smiley, friendly, approachable and frequently 'chatty'! In leaving my last permanent job I was told that I have a very animated face and voice which would always keep children interested if I chose to use this gift.

My interests are many and varied but I'll tell you just a few of my passions below. I love to read, in fact, I'll read just about anything and everything. I am a bookworm. I have my favourite books including the Narnia series, the Horrid Henry series and Enid Blyton. On the more grown up scale of reading I love books by John Grisham and the Penguin Classics series. I love to swim and tend to do this two or three times a week, or if not when I can fit it in!

Another passion of mine is the arts. I love creating art, especially if it evolves 'messy play', i.e. Paints and glue to create the next masterpiece in art! On the quieter side, I love music, especially playing the piano and singing. I have had singing lessons since I was 10 and by choice I am a classical singer who loves opera in particular.

If you have a child with special needs then I am interested in hearing for you as I also have lots of experience within this sector and have much of the training associated with it, e.g. tube feeding, carrying out therapies, etc.
